Lidiko lodge stars in a National Geographic Documentary. |

Lidiko Lodge, being one of the oldest colonial buildings in St Lucia, was the natural choice for a scene from a National Geographic Documentary on the civil war in Sierra Leone, "Situation Critical - SAS Jungle Rescue", a fact based documentary reenacting the British SAS rescue of hostages taken by the notorious West Side Boys in Sierra Leone in 2001. Lidiko Lodge played the role of a colonial hotel set in the tropics in Sierra Leone. Staff from Lidiko were used as extras. The jungle scenes were also filmed in the jungle surrounding St Lucia. The documentary is currently showing on the National Geographic Channel, Channel 260, in South Africa.
Lidiko Lodge also recently (Sun 21 January) featured in an investigative South African television programme, Fokus, discussing the role of St Lucia and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park. Lidiko was depicted as one of the upmarket establishments promoting the image of St Lucia.
The Lidiko movie, that can be downloaded, was also shown on a television programme Kyknet. This tourism programme showed St Lucia and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park to the South African viewer.
